 Business around the world are continually identifying, interacting and building closer bond with their  customers on social media in a way that is completely upending traditional marketing  practice and levelling the playing field for small and medium sized enterprise

   In Ghana for instant, many business have tapped into global arena of using social media tools to reach customers directly and intimately, though many more are missing out on the experiences. Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter and Linkedin are the most popular platform for most business but you will also find that astute company promoting highly impactful content on Google Plus, Youtube, Pinterest etc

   For Small and Medium Sized Enterprise to remain relevant in a competitive world of business, they would need to understand how their customers engage in social media.The primary reason is to help reach  out with customers with intention of identify and satisfying their expectation and needs. On facebook alone more 60million small business represent 30%  joining the platform  the according to figure  publish last year because they believe it is place where customers are congregated each days

  • Building Loyal Follow

   As a SME, business can do more damage to it brand on social media if its does not engage correctly .Rather by by taking the time to understand customers preference and attitude on social media, a business can craft a better brand to meet their taste.For example, some retailer use social media to test their products or services before launching. This practice required retailer to be more transparent and be willing to share information that will make it more vulnerable to unwanted criticism

  • Segmentation of Customers

   No matter how negative, insight into customer sentiment is empowering and can allow the SME to improve its marketing effort for the specific customers or possible refining  the pricing, labelling or packaging in responding to the feedback. According to the expert, the future is to increase in customised messaging and private group space with the social communities where prospect and existing customers can be segmented with better understanding of their needs and accurate information.This mean that it will be much easier for business to identify brand loyalist and critics and to find the different type of meaningful communication to those group within individual social media platform.

 It can be conclude that using social media platform can help business to strategically focus and improve upon their marketing effort gain better understand of their customers better with regard to pricing policy, customer service management,packaging and action taking on feedback.
